Families and friends greeted the guided-missile destroyer USS Chafee at Pearl Harbor on Thursday after a six-month independent deployment to the western Pacific. Bill Wells held and kissed his son Andrew, 3 months, for the first time as his wife, Jessica, held their other son, Logan, 3. Wells won a lottery that allowed him to be the first father to get off the ship.

Nathan Mawer bent down on one knee to propose to Sarah Bankston immediately after he got off the ship. Bankston said yes.
