Makiki man held in robbery of store on Pensacola Street
A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery of a Makiki convenience store Monday.
The 34-year-old Green Street resident was arrested at the Honolulu Police Department station Wednesday morning and is being held on suspicion of first-degree robbery and use of a firearm.
Police said a man entered Pensacola Mart at 1535 Pensacola St. about 2:30 p.m. Monday, pointed a gun at a cashier and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
Boy allegedly throws metal through police car windows
A 17-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threw a 2½-pound barbell plate at a police officer in Wahiawa.
Police said the officer was investigating reports of a man hitting houses with a 3- to 4-foot-long stick on the 2100 block of California Avenue at 6:05 a.m.
The officer saw a male juvenile matching the description and questioned him from his police vehicle. The officer noticed the boy appeared to be agitated.
The suspect began to walk away, but then returned abruptly and allegedly threw the metal barbell plate through the closed driver-side rear window. The plate also broke the opposite window, police said.
The shattered glass caused a small cut on the officer’s right arm, police said.
The officer subdued the boy and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree property damage.
Man found unconscious in sea hospitalized in critical condition
A man in his 20s was in critical condition Wednesday after being pulled unconscious from the water off Sans Souci Beach.
An Ocean Safety Division official said the man was snorkeling 75 to 80 yards offshore when a beachgoer noticed he was unconscious. Lifeguards performed CPR.
He was taken to Straub Clinic & Hospital, the official said. Emergency Medical Services said he was in critical condition.
