Fujikawa 1 stroke back in Bolle Classic
Hawaii’s Tadd Fujikawa fired a 64 in Wednesday’s opening round of the Bolle Classic. He is a shot back in the eGolf Tour event at Sapona Country Club in Lexington, N.C., and Colonial Country Club in Thomasville, N.C.
Jhared Hack and Casey Johnson shot 7-under-par 63s at Sapona to share the lead.
Fujikawa’s 6-under 64 was the low round at Colonial. He had eight birdies and two bogeys in just his second round in the 60s this year on the tour. It was his lowest round (to par) on the eGolf Tour since a final-round 66 at the Caddy For A Cure Classic in September 2010. He lost a playoff that week to Drew Weaver.
The Moanalua High graduate was the youngest competitor in the history of the U.S. Open when he played as a 15-year old in 2006. That record should be broken today when 14-year-old Andy Zhang tees off. Zhang, an alternate, got in when Paul Casey withdrew.
