A group from the University of Hawaii will join 19 other land-grant universities in Washington, D.C., later this month for the Smithsonian ?Folklife Festival, setting up and tending to a wetland lo'i (taro patch) on the National Mall. Five-year-olds Addison Elia, left, and Braeden Agos from the Pearl City Foundation summer fun program worked with Summer Maunakea, a doctorate student in the College of Education, at Ka Papa Lo'i 'O Kanewai near the UH-Manoa Hawaiian Studies building.
