Some residents of the Pacific Grand condominium building in Honolulu faced evacuation late Saturday after a fire broke out in an 8th floor unit, the Fire Department said Sunday.

One tenant lives in the affected unit but was not home when the fire started, a department spokesperson said. The flames were contained to that unit, and no injuries were reported.

The call came in at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, and firefighters arrived at 747 Amana Street three minutes later, according to the department. The blaze was deemed extinguished at 10:59 p.m.

Structural damage was estimated at $100,000, and lost contents amount to roughly $20,000, the department said.

The cause of the fire remains to be investigated.

Amana Street was closed to traffic while firefighters battled the blaze and reopened around 1:30 a.m.
