Residents flee blaze in condominium
Some residents of the Pacific Grand condominium building in Honolulu evacuated late Saturday after a fire broke out in an eighth-floor unit, the Honolulu Fire Department said Sunday.
The tenant who lives in the affected unit was not home when the fire started, a department spokesperson said. The flames were contained to that unit, and no injuries were reported.
The call came in at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, and firefighters arrived at 747 Amana St. three minutes later, according to the department. The blaze was deemed extinguished at 10:59 p.m.
Structural damage was estimated at $100,000, and damage to contents was around $20,000, the department said.
The cause remains under investigation.
