KITV morning traffic anchor Yasmin Dar will begin a new phase of her career at KVAL-TV in Eugene, Ore., where she will present the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news beginning Aug. 30.
KVAL News Director Sean Flanagan discovered Dar while vacationing in Hawaii.
"We believe that Yasmin will bring a unique dynamic to our newscast that will resonate with our viewers," he said in a memo to KVAL staff.
The news anchor position is "an opportunity of a lifetime," Dar said in a statement. She had worked at KITV for three years.
In addition to traffic anchoring, Dar has established an acting and modeling career, appearing in TV shows "Lost," "Off the Map" and "Hawaii Five-0" and in the feature film "Soul Surfer."
She also has been an on-camera host and appeared in TV commercials and print advertisements.
Dar’s last day at KITV will be Aug. 17.
KITV’s programming has been unavailable on Oceanic Time Warner Cable since July 10 because of a contract dispute between Oceanic and Hearst Television Inc., the owner of KITV.
The programming only has been available only over the air via satellite services and through Hawaiian Telcom’s television service.
