It’s a good morning in America again
Watching television online instead of on a wide-screen TV is not the way most modern families spend their evenings, so it’s with a sigh of relief that ABC’s Emmy-nominated "Modern Family" returns to the regular venue on KITV.
A contract dispute between Oceanic Time Warner Cable and Hearst Television Inc. was resolved after 10 days. As a result, "Good Morning America," "The View" and other network shows have returned to Oceanic viewers of KITV and 15 other Hearst stations nationwide.
Joan C. Hoating of Red Hill said she got apologies whenever she complained to Oceanic, KITV and ABC Network — "everyone was blaming each other" — but a settlement will make families modern once again.
True stunt is making ‘Five-0’ seem real
Kudos and best of luck to the intrepid "Hawaii Five-0" stunt coordinator, Jeff Cadiente, who came away with his second Emmy nomination this week.
One of the episodes that drew a nomination was the one that aired Oct. 3, in which McGarrett survives a harrowing skydive to rescue a Navy SEAL pushed from a plane. In Season 1, he was nominated for the episode in which Danno was exposed to neurological poison.
Everyone hopes Cadiente scores a win when the awards are announced Sept. 23. That probably includes every stuntman who assumes the McGarrett persona. An Emmy would be affirmation for that harum-scarum "Five-0" brand — and job security for stunt doubles who look more or less like Alex O’Loughlin.
Now, if someone could make the show’s occasional forays into pidgin sound a little less awkward, that would be a real stunt.
