Crews put out a small brush fire Sunday in Kapolei. The 3-acre blaze started in an open lot on the Waianae side of the Sports Authority building on Kapolei Parkway around 3:30 p.m. and was fully contained at 4:02 p.m., Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Carlton Yamada said. No injuries were reported.

Florida man dies after swimming incident
A Florida man died Saturday, 10 days after he was pulled from the ocean off Punaluu Beach Park, police said.
Benjamin Drose, 79, who had been swimming, was found unresponsive at about 4:30 p.m. July 19 and taken to the hospital where he later died.
Tuna boat captain badly hurt in assault
Police are investigating an assault that took place on a tuna boat at Honolulu Harbor on Sunday that left the vessel’s captain in serious condition. Police Detective Gary Lahens said a man threatened the captain with a knife at about 6:45 p.m., then called a group of five friends who assaulted him.
A crew member of the boat, Princess Jasmine, identified the victim as the captain.
Police arrested the suspected assailant. The group of friends fled and remained at large.
