Hawaii has a new Korean channel: Korea Travel Network, which launched Wednesday. KTN is a statewide hotel-only channel that serves the fast-growing Korean tourism market in Hawaii.
The main programming is national news of Korea and valuable tourist information, such as how to tip, smoking laws in Hawaii, how to pump gas and other travel-related information, along with ads from companies that want to target Korean tourists.
KTN is in approximately 100 hotels and more than 33,000 rooms in the islands. The launch is tied to the increase in flights to and from South Korea. There are a total of four daily flights on carriers Hawaiian Airlines, Asiana Airlines and Korean Air.
"This is a long-awaited service much needed in Hawaii," said David Jung, president of travel company Tournet Hawaii.
