House hunting with unique parameters
Kenny Endo, the drum master whose Taiko Center of the Pacific has been so popular with the community, is probably lucky his school has many friends.
The center has been displaced from the chapel at Kapiolani Community College while renovations are under way, and its temporary home will become unavailable in a few weeks.
We wish Endo all the luck in the world. It must be at least a little challenging finding a home for drumming classes. A residential zone is likely out of the running, in any case. Taiko drumming is invigorating when we hear it at a festival, but a quiet bedtime is paramount.
‘The good stuff’ here would be an arrest
Nobody has to be a parent to feel an urge to hug the 13-year-old boy who survived a harrowing home invasion this week in Portlock.
Ryan Johnson awoke to find two burglars in the hallway; the men took his cellphone, instructed him not to call police and said they didn’t want to hurt him. In return, they expected guidance to "the good stuff," which included a large diamond ring.
Everyone would agree that he did the right thing to keep his wits about him and cooperate, and sigh with relief that he wasn’t hurt. The burglars’ promise aside, these things can end tragically.
And it’s fortunate the teen has a keen memory and delivered detailed descriptions. Seeing the suspects arrested would be a suitable reward for him.
