Discounts and donations at Valerie Joseph shop

Valerie Ragaza-Miao is inviting all to stop by the Valerie Joseph boutique at Ala Moana Center to donate $5 to Community Helping Schools and spin the boutique’s "Wheel of Fashion" to win discounts of up to 40 percent and the opportunity for a free dress.

Spin the wheel through Sept. 22, when the boutique will be presenting its fifth annual "Fresh Fashion Rocks" benefit at the M Nightclub at Waterfront Plaza, also benefiting Community Helping Schools, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping public schools obtain supplies and services that aren’t included in school budgets.

"Fresh Fashion Rocks" runs from 5 to 9 p.m., with a fashion show, dessert bar by Hokulani Bakery, silent auction, music and dance performances, and more. Tickets are $20, available at the boutique.

Museum sale offers unique antiques, gifts

The Honolulu Museum Shop is hosting its semi-annual clearance sale, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 5 to 8, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 9.

The event in the museum’s Kinau Courtyard will feature jewelry, art books, glass art, stationery, posters and T-shirts, all at 30 percent to 80 percent off.

Also offered are many one-of-a-kind art objects and antiques, including vintage Japanese lacquer miso bowls with lids, $15 (reduced from $27.50); an antique Chinese cosmetics chest, circa 1880s, $399 (reduced from $595); and a Philippine Ibaloi gathering basket, $55 (reduced from $89).

Customers will receive a free gift with purchase, while supplies last. On the final day of the sale, prices will be further reduced.
