Arraignment set for suspect in sex assault, prostitution case
A 34-year-old convicted felon accused of running prostitution activity at a Waikiki hotel and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl will be arraigned Tuesday in Circuit Court.
An Oahu grand jury indicted Robert J.J. Primeau Jr., also known as Brandon Santos, Robert Shorts, Robert Sorts and Henry Wayne Vold, on Tuesday on one count of second-degree promotion of prostitution, six counts of first-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, promoting drugs and open lewdness.
Honolulu police said in charging documents filed in court that a Waikiki police crime reduction unit conducted an investigation into prostitution involving an adult escort website.
Police set up a prostitution date by texting a number.
An officer then met a girl from the escort service on Aug. 21 at a room at the Princess Kaiulani Hotel, 120 Kaiulani Ave.
The officer said the girl looked young and learned she was 15. She told the officer that he had been texting Primeau to set up the prostitution date.
The officer considered the girl a victim of human trafficking, the court document said.
The girl also told police she had just come from another prostitution date where she earned $150, which she gave to Primeau who allegedly had arranged the date. She told police she had 10 to 15 prostitution dates a month, all allegedly set up by Primeau, with all the money going to him.
The girl also said she had sexual intercourse with Primeau 20 times.
Another officer recognized Primeau’s name, and found him at the hotel.
The girl identified Primeau, and police arrested him Aug. 22 on suspicion of promoting prostitution and first-degree sexual assault.
Primeau is in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail. He has been convicted on first- degree burglary, probation rev- ocation, abuse of a family member and various petty misdemeanors.
Hit-and-run suspect caught with help of witness
A witness to a hit-and-run accident Friday night on Likelike Highway followed the alleged suspect until the suspect pulled onto a side street, where he was arrested.
The suspect crashed into the back of a motorcycle while driving up Likelike Highway near Alu Street around 11:10 p.m. and drove away, police said.
Paramedics took the motorcycle driver, a Honolulu man, to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
A witness followed the suspect’s vehicle and called police.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, police said.
