2 divers escape tiger shark

Two local divers encountered an aggressive, 13-foot tiger shark Sunday roughly 300 yards off Yokohama Bay, a Department of Emergency Services spokeswoman said.

The men were not injured, and lifeguards cleared the water and posted warning signs, Shayne Enright said.

At about 2:20 p.m., the shark approached the divers and hit one of the divers’ bags, Enright said.

One of the divers attempted to use his bang stick — an underwater firearm — on the shark, but it misfired.

One diver was able to swim to a rocky cliff and alert lifeguards, who rescued the other diver by personal watercraft.

Car plows into Kaneohe home

A car crashed into a Kaneohe home Saturday night, but the occupants were unhurt.

Fire Capt. Gary Lum said the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

At about 9:41 p.m., a black Ford Mustang slammed into a corner of the house at 47-411 Kamehameha Highway, damaging the bedroom of tenant Karen Wood.

Some of the residents remained in the home overnight and the rest found lodging elsewhere, said Shannon Ball, property manager with KFG Properties Inc. He said no estimate of the damage was immediately available.
