Fresno Pacific tops HPU in 5 sets
Rupia Inck had 19 kills and Karah Mitchell added 15 to lead Fresno Pacific to a 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9 women’s volleyball victory over Hawaii Pacific on Sunday at St. Andrew’s Priory Gym.
Kathleen Anderson contributed with a solo block and eight block assists for the Sunbirds (3-1).
Amanda Moriarty had 21 kills to lead the Sea Warriors (3-1) in the loss.
Drexel blanks Hawaii-Hilo in soccer
Four players scored goals to lead Drexel to a 4-0 women’s soccer victory over Hawaii-Hilo on Sunday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Andi Stampone, Sam Greenfield, Lauren Stollar and Gabby Dixon scored for the Dragons (4-1-1).
The Vulcans (0-1) had only two shots on goal.
BYUH splits 2 volleyball matches
Stella Chen hammered 22 kills and hit .347 with 18 digs to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-18 win over Regis (Colo.) on Saturday night in the Wildwood Lodge Volleyball Classic in St. Paul, Minn.
Danielle Quigley added 17 digs for the Seasiders (2-2).
Katie Klein led the Rangers (1-3) with 15 kills.
In another match earlier Saturday, Southwest Minnesota State defeated BYUH 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.
Brooke Burmeister led the way for the Mustangs (3-0) with 16 kills.
Chen had 19 kills for the Seasiders.
Brigham Young-Hawaii gets opening win
Junior Brittney Evans dribbled past two defenders and scored on a breakaway in the 77th minute to give Brigham Young-Hawaii a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday in Laie.
Megan McCain made five saves for the Seasiders in goal in the season opener for both teams.
