Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck
A 45-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after the motorcycle he was operating collided with an oncoming truck on Kapolei Parkway.
According to police, the motorcycle rider was traveling west on Kapolei Parkway, about 0.2 miles before Renton Road, when he apparently lost control of his 2010 Yamaha motorcycle, crossed a grassy median and continued into the path of a 2001 Ford truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The accident occurred around 12:20 p.m.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash.
Alcohol was not a factor for the driver of the truck. It is not known whether alcohol may have been a factor for the motorcycle rider.
Police closed traffic in both directions to investigate. Westbound lanes were reopened around 3:30 p.m. Eastbound lanes were reopened about an hour later.
