Johnson, Nakama qualify for Champions event
Mark Johnson shot a 2-under 70 and Casey Nakama went even-par 72 at Kapolei Golf Course on Tuesday to qualify for spots in the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship.
The $1.8 million Champions Tour event runs Friday through Sunday, and the winner will pocket $270,000.
Greg Norman, Hale Irwin, Mark O’Meara and Corey Pavin are some of the big names in the field.
Twenty-two golfers played in the qualifier Tuesday.
Robin Byrd, Esteban Toledo, Stan Utley and Mo Radke tied for third at 1-over 73.
Fujii to play in Super Seniors world event
Honolulu’s Lurline Fujii will represent the United States at the 32nd International Tennis Federation Super Seniors World Team Championships this week in Umag, Croatia.
Fujii will play in the 70-and-over division.
UH alumnae dinner Thursday, game Friday
The Rainbow Wahine volleyball alumnae exhibition games will be held Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Two teams of alumnae play at 5 p.m., followed by an alumnae team against the Rainbow Wahine at 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale for the alumnae dinner, which will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. The cost is $95 for food and drink. For more information, call 956-6229.
