Man held in burglary and attack on officer
A 21-year-old homeless man is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a police officer while being arrested in the burglary of a Ahuimanu home Wednesday.
Police said the suspect assaulted the officer and escaped while he was handcuffed, taking refuge in a nearby home. The tenant of the home confronted the suspect, who fled with officers in pursuit.
The suspect was later found and arrested on suspicion of assault on a law enforcement official, first-degree burglary, escape, resisting arrest and breaking into a home. Later he also was arrested on suspicion of defacing the serial number of a mo-ped, and several weapon and drug charges.
H-1 crash sends 3 people to hospital
Three people were hospitalized in serious condition after a two-car crash on H-1 freeway westbound in Kaimuki Thursday afternoon.
The three, taken by emergency services personnel to a hospital, were a man, 80; a woman, 79; and a man, 65, said Shayne Enright, a spokeswoman for the city Department of Emergency Services.
Witnesses said one vehicle overturned.
The crash happened near the Koko Head overpass, Enright said.
Kaneohe sex assault under investigation
Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl by a 23-year-old man in Kaneohe on Sept. 5.
Police said Wednesday the suspect is known but has not been positively identified.
The case is classified as a first-degree sexual assault.
