Maryknoll Sister Joanne Doi of Los Angeles will be the keynote speaker for "Transformative Journeys Towards Wellness," Oct. 13 at the Community Church of Honolulu, sponsored by the Sunrise Ministry Foundation.
The program, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will offer workshops designed to promote wellness by offering spiritual journeys to a healthy body, mind, spirit and community, a news release said.

Entering the Maryknoll Sisters in 1981, Doi served in the southern Andes of Peru among the Aymara people where she engaged in popular education and religion. She later was awarded a doctorate at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif., the release said.
Co-sponsors include the Community Church of Honolulu at 2345 Nuuanu Ave., The Interfaith Alliance Hawaii, Hawaii Forgiveness Project, Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center, Inclusive Orthodox Church, Institute for Religion and Social Change, and Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
