Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii is holding its 106th annual Thanksgiving Festival (Omatsuri) at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 7 for blessings on families, businesses and the nation at 215 N. Kukui St., across from the Chinese Cultural Plaza. The public is welcome.
Three generations of the Uichi Yamane and Kazuo Yamane families who have contributed to the Shinto shrine’s development and preservation for more than a century will be honored, according to its fall newsletter.
The 1 p.m. Thanksgiving service of purifica-tion and blessings will be preceded at 12:45 p.m. by the Mikoshi Gojinko (carrying of the portable shrine). Celebration ceremonies will commence at 2 p.m. onstage, followed by a free dinner at 2:30 p.m.
Entertainment begins at 3 p.m., including Ryukyukoku Matsuri Taiko, Nihon Buyo by Bando Ryu Dancing and the Hanayagi Dancing Academy, Shinbuyo by Dazzman Toguchi, karaoke by the Aiko Sekiguchi Karaoke Class and a lucky-number drawing, a news release said.
