Carve a pumpkin as a family
Families will gather to craft their jack-o’-lanterns at the third annual Pumpkin Carving Festival on Oct. 27 at Windward Mall.
The annual event has moved from Blaisdell Center to Windward Mall this year, with proceeds going to benefit Keiki o ka Aina Family Learning Centers and the USO Hawaii-Wounded Warriors Program.
Seating times are 10 a.m., 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. with each seating limited to 250 families.
Packages cost $35 for a family of four ($65 for two packages) and include a medium-size pumpkin and a carving kit with a scooper, a minisaw or paring knife, gloves and stencils.
Michigan master carver Ed Moody will also be on-site carving 1,000-pound pumpkins into elaborate displays.

Be entertained at family expo
Expect some fresh, new entertainment at the ninth annual Oh Baby! Family Expo, which takes place today and Sunday at Blaisdell Center.
Family entertainers Kids Imagine Nation of Southern California is scheduled to perform. The three-member group sings children’s pop music, including songs "Monkey See, Monkey Do," "Clean Up" and "Naptime," in an interactive show.
As usual, the expo will feature baby and kids products from more than 150 local and mainland companies. Shop for everything from car seats to strollers, children’s furniture, toys and clothing, or gather information on day care and preschools.
Events include the diaper derby crawling contest, a fairy tale princess performance, a Pregnant & Proud celebration and a chance to take photos with Kung Fu Panda.
Dr. Michel Odent will speak on "The Benefits of Natural Birth," and professional cake designer Porsche Sylvester will conduct a free, hands-on cookie decorating demonstration on both days.
Family-friendly amenities include a private nursing area, a baby changing station, an infant/toddler play area and a children’s activity area.
The Oh Baby! Family Expo takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5.50; children 10 and under free.

Carnival fun here again
Cool rides, entertainment and the Maltese family circus show are back again for the Kapolei Carnival next weekend.
The carnival, a benefit for the Konishiki Kids Foundation, takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Oct. 20 and noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 21 at Farrington Highway and Fort Barrette Road.
E.K. Fernandez presents its array of rides, while the Maltese Family performs its circus acts at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday; 4, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Oct. 20; and 2, 5 and 8 p.m. Oct. 21.
The Konishiki Kids Foundation offers Leeward Coast kids cultural exchange trips to Japan.
Admission is $1 for adults and children (free for kids under 40 inches tall). Ten-ride wristbands will be sold on carnival grounds from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21 for $25.
