Highway closed after car fells utility pole
Police shut down a section of Kamehameha Highway in Laie on Saturday morning after a car crash toppled a utility pole.
The shutdown occurred at 5:05 a.m. in the area of 55-476 Kamehameha Highway, and traffic was rerouted to Laniloa Loop and Hale Laa Boulevard. No one was injured.
The highway remained closed all day, reopening about 6:30 p.m.
Man arrested in assault on young boy
Police arrested Friday a 30-year-old Pacific Heights man suspected of assaulting a 5-year-old boy on Tuesday.
A teacher asked the boy about an injury she saw on him, police said, and he told her that a family member did it.
The man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault. He was released pending further investigation.
