Donna Wong was named Designer of the Year during the 2012 Hawaii Jewelers Association Design Competition, with winners announced Saturday.

Wong won for her pendant "Tropical Paradise," with a centerpiece of red coral encircled with diamonds, with an 18K tricolor gold landscape featuring Diamond Head on the reverse side. A turning mechanism allows either side to be displayed.

The piece also won the Hawaii-themed jewelry category.

And Wong was a People’s Choice winner, chosen by her peers, and Public Choice winner in the "jewelry over $3,500" category, for black pearl pendant, "Hidden Beauty."

The annual competition drew 45 entries in three categories.
