When it comes to horror films in Hawaii, there is no shortage of aspiring directors. We received 19 spooky entries, including several done by high school students and younger teenagers.
Zombies were popular. Screaming girls, too. Some of the amateur filmmakers employed the "found footage" technique and others have monsters in their home. And there was no shortage of special effects, splashy title sequences and eerie background music to enhance the scares.
Don’t forget, our panel of professional mad scientists will also review the five finalists and award the winner a $300 cash prize.
Finalists will be featured on Hawaii News Now "Sunrise" starting Oct. 29, with the winner announced Oct. 31.
