Man charged in 2 sex assaults
Authorities charged a 45-year-old Iroquois Point man Tuesday with first-degree sexual assault for allegedly assaulting two teenage girls in separate cases.
Dewitt Long was being held on a total of $500,000 bail in both cases.
Police arrested Long on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl from 11 p.m. May 9 to 1 a.m. May 10 at a Honolulu Airport-area hotel. He was charged with first- and third-degree sexual assault.
Long was already in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on Sunday in Ewa Beach. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping in that case.
The girl told police he sexually assaulted her at 10 p.m. Sunday. He was arrested 50 minutes later at his home.
1 stabbed in family argument
Police arrested a 21-year-old Whitmore Village man who allegedly stabbed a 42-year-old relative Wednesday afternoon at their Hoihoi Avenue home.
The two men got into an argument, and the younger man allegedly stabbed the older man in the chest with a knife at 2:23 p.m. and fled on foot.
The 42-year-old man was taken in serious condition by ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he was later upgraded to stable condition, an Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman and police said.
Officers found the man nearby and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Visitor found to have drowned
An autopsy determined that a 35-year-old male Japanese visitor died Monday of saltwater drowning, Hawaii County police announced Wednesday.
Takashi Nakayama drowned while snorkeling in waters off the Fairmont Orchid in South Kohala at 1 N. Kaniku Drive, police said.
Resort personnel pulled the unconscious man from the water and attempted to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation, police said.
Nakayama was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Nakayama, who was traveling with his wife, was from Kanagawa prefecture.
Woman nabbed in stolen vehicle
Hawaii County police have charged a 28-year-old Hilo woman for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle in Puna.
Sasha Soares was arrested in Nanawale Estates in Puna on Sunday after she was seen driving a Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen during a burglary in Kailua-Kona on Oct. 17.
After meeting with prosecutors, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section charged Soares Tuesday with one count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. Her bail was set at $10,000.
