COURTESY HAWAIIAN VOLCANO OBSERVATORY A new study has found a link between Kilauea and its rival volcano, Mauna Loa. Vigorous spattering was evident Monday evening along the western margin of the summit lava lake at Kilauea Volcano. Occasional bursts, like the one shown here, appeared to send tiny bits of spatter up to the level of the floor of Halemaumau crater.
