2,200 gallons of wastewater spills into stream near Pearl Kai center

About 2,200 gallons of waste water spilled into a stream near the Pearl Kai Shopping Center.

The state Department of Health said Monday night that a sewer manhole overflowed, causing the discharge. City crews stopped the leak and kept tabs on the spill until private contractors arrived.

The Health Department posted signs from McGrew Point to Blaisdell Park, warning the public to stay out of the water.
