A 56-year-old woman was killed Monday morning when the car she was driving veered off a dead-end road in Nuuanu, went down an embankment and ended up in Nuuanu Stream.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Betty V. Cabasag; she lived less than a mile from the crash site.
An autopsy will be performed today.
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free Cabasag, who was trapped in her car in the stream at the end of 55 S. Judd St. just after 5 a.m.
It appeared Cabasag’s car rammed a steel barrier at the end of the road and went into a ravine.
Paramedics said she died at the scene at 5:14 a.m.
