HPU men’s basketball loses exhibition
Malte Ziegenhagen scored 17 points, but Hawaii Pacific’s men’s basketball team fell just short in an exhibition at Santa Clara, losing 64-63.
Ziegenhagen also tied for team high in rebounds with 10, same as Leif Rodney.
Marc Trasolini led the Broncos with 22 points.
HPU plays Hawaii in an exhibition Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
BYUH women rally to road volleyball win
The No. 8 Brigham Young-Hawaii women’s volleyball team came from one set down to beat Fresno Pacific 12-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12 on the road Tuesday in a Pacific West match.
Shih Ting Chen led the Seasiders (19-2, 14-0) with 18 kills and added 11 digs against the Sunbirds (19-2, 11-1).
BYUH can lock up the PacWest title with a win at home against Chaminade on Saturday or at Hawaii-Hilo a week later.
BYUH soccer women beat Dominican
Terryn Soelberg scored in the 72nd minute to give the Brigham Young-Hawaii’s women’s soccer team a 1-0 win over visiting Dominican in a PacWest match.
The Seasiders improved to 9-4-2 and 7-3-2. The Penguins dropped to 7-7-2 and 6-5-2.
The men’s match between the schools, also in Laie, ended in a scoreless tie, leaving BYUH at 4-7-3 and 3-7-2 and Dominican at 8-7-2 and 4-7-2.

UHH won the men’s match 3-2 to improve to 4-8-2 and -7-2. The Hawks fell to 6-9-1 nd 3-9-0.
>> Academy of Art beat host Chaminade in women’s soccer 2-0. The Silverswords fell to 0-15 and 0-13, while the Urban Knights improved to 5-11 and 3-9. In the men’s match, AAU won 2-1, dropping Chaminade to 2-10-3 and 2-8-3. Academy of Art moved to 4-11-1 and 3-8-1.
Wahine way back in golf invitational
Toledo and Florida International posted 595s Tuesday to share the Day 1 lead in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Leilehua Golf Course. Play concludes today.
Hawaii totaled 624 to sit in ninth out of 12 teams.
Kristen Rue of Washington State led individually with an even-par 144. Ka‘ili Britos was tops among UH golfers with a 151, tied for 21st.
UHH men’s team takes Rose golf event
The Hawaii-Hilo men won their third consecutive golf tournament Tuesday, capturing the seventh annual Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at Waikoloa Kings’ Course.
The Vulcans won by 40 shots with the tournament’s only sub-par score, firing a 54-hole total of 2-under 862.
They were led by medalist Corey Kozuma, who shot three consecutive rounds of 70.
Grand Canyon won the six-team women’s tournament, shooting a final-round 307 for a total of 915.
