Honolulu-based Teddy’s Bigger Burgers is expanding aggressively in Hawaii and on the mainland.
The company has signed new franchising agreements in Seattle and Iowa City, Iowa, and is building restaurants in Ewa Beach and Kaneohe, both expected to open in the spring.
It also is looking to expand to the neighbor islands and other Pacific Northwest sites, the restaurant chain announced Thursday.
In addition, Teddy’s has planned franchises in California, including San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and the Bay Area. It also has franchises in Tokyo and Woodinville, Wash.
Co-owner Ted Tsakiris said the company’s goal is to continue expanding through the next few years, with five to six new stores on Oahu alone.
"We are excited to announce that our newest territory offering is California, where we feel that development will be robust," he said in a statement.
The 1950s-themed restaurant, which opened in 1998 on Monsarrat Avenue, has six other locations on Oahu in Hawaii Kai, Kailua, Waikiki, Moiliili, Aiea and Wahiawa, as well as one in Lahaina.
