Brennan pleads not guilty in DUI case
Former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan has pleaded not guilty to a drunken-driving charge.
Brennan did not appear Tuesday at Kaneohe District Court to make the plea. An attorney appeared on his behalf.
His next court date is set for Jan. 2.
Police arrested Brennan on July 25 in Kailua for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.
His blood-alcohol content was 0.17, more than twice the legal threshold of 0.08.
At 11:26 p.m. July 25, a police officer saw a maroon Chevrolet Cruze operated by Brennan traveling Kailua-bound at a high rate of speed on Kalanianaole Highway, passing the Kapaa Quarry Road intersection.
The officer pulled him over on Kailua Road near Uluoa Street. According to a police report, Brennan’s eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slightly slurred. The officer also reported that he could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and that Brennan’s balance was unsteady when he exited the vehicle.
Brennan’s driver’s license was revoked for a year following his arrest.
