If you or your neighbor spare no bulb or plywood reindeer on outdoor holiday displays, get listed in our Holiday Lights guide. Email a description and street address of the display and your name and contact information to features@staradvertiser.com, or mail the details to Honolulu Star-Advertiser, c/o Holiday Lights, 500 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 7-210, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Classes in Kailua cover chocolate
With all the visions of sugarplums this time of year, thoughts also turn to other sweet things, such as chocolate.

» Madre Shop Pau Hana (4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, free): See what the folks at Madre are dreaming up, taste single-origin chocolates from around the globe and discuss which chocolates to pair with your favorite juice, wine, beer or cheese.
» Truffle Dipping & Decorating Mini Class (6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6, $25): Learn to assemble a truffle from ganache and tempered chocolate. Take home three truffles you made yourself.
» Holiday Chocolate Truffle Making Class (2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8, $50): Head chocolatier Kristen Klassen will lead students in creating three types of truffles using Madre’s award-winning chocolate: coconut truffles with maple cumin candied pepitas, vanilla agave truffles with toasted sesame seeds, and almond butter truffles. Take home recipes and a gift bag with the three types of truffles.
Chefs to discuss ‘How to Make It’
Hawaii’s Rising Star chefs — selected by StarChefs.com, an online culinary magazine — will talk about their roads to success at the panel discussion "How to Make It" on Monday at Kapiolani Community College.
The lineup includes Christopher Kulis (Capische? on Maui), Andrew Le (The Pig & the Lady), Cameron Lewark (Spago, Maui), Nick Mastrascusa (Beach Tree, Hawaii island), Wade Ueoka (Alan Wong’s), Jojo Vasquez (Plantation House Restaurant, Maui), Quinten Frye (SALT Kitchen & Tasting Bar), Doug Kocol (SALT), "Top Chef" contestant Sheldon Simeon (Star Noodle, Maui), Mark Noguchi (Pili Hawaii), Ed Kenney (town), Michelle Karr-Ueoka (Alan Wong’s) and Elizabeth McDonald (Honu Seafood & Pizza, Maui).

Wailea event will cheer food, wine
Wailea Resort on Maui will launch its inaugural Wailea Wine & Food Festival Dec. 6-9, featuring the talents of chefs from the Four Seasons Resort Maui, the Fairmont Kea Lani, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and the Grand Wailea. The event will feature 65 wineries, and master sommeliers will attend.
Wine events focus on pinots, California wines, wines of Italy and wine and cheese pairings. A gala event on Dec. 8 will include the cuisine of restaurants Capische?, Amasia, DUO, Nick’s Fish Market, Gannon’s, Fabiani’s and Ko.
