The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life: Shibuya, Japan
Toshiko Sato and her husband, James, of Honolulu came across the Kailua Weekend restaurant last month in a new shopping complex in Shibuya, Japan. The restaurant wasn’t the only reminder of home: A shop next door to Kailua Weekend sold fresh, hot malasadas, and the couple found another eatery named Aloha Table while visiting the Daikanyama district. They also spotted many more signs of Hawaiian life in Hakodate and Kumamoto, James Sato said.
