ABERCROMBIE STRENGTHENS HAWAII'S TIES WITH MOROCCO | 1. Gov. Neil Abercrombie, fourth from left, and Hawaii first lady Nancie Caraway welcomed M. Jan Rumi, Hawaii's honorary consul of Morocco, left; Driss Guerraoui, head of the Kingdom of Morocco's Economic and Social Council; and Rachad Bouhlal, the kingdom's ambassador to the United States, to the Nov. 29 opening dinner for His Majesty King Mohammed VI Week on the lawn at Washington Place. The dinner, featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine and music, was a highlight of five days of events promoting closer ties between Hawaii and the North African country.

'HANDLER' SLITHERS ONTO UH STAGE | 3. Director Tyler Nichols, center, joined actors Isaac Ligsay, left, and Matthew Kelty Dec. 1 in handling the realistic but fake snakes that play a key role in his production of "Handler," a provocative play about Christians who handle poisonous snakes bare-handed as a demonstration of their faith, at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Earle Ernst Lab Theatre. Ligsay gave a stellar performance as a worshiper who dies when a snake bites him -- and two days later rises from the dead.
