Man extremely critical after near-drowning
A man in his late 30s was in extremely critical condition Wednesday after apparently nearly drowning in a pool at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore.
When Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived, the man had been pulled from the pool and was undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, an Emergency Services Department spokeswoman said.
The incident happened at 12:45 p.m. The man was taken to an area hospital in extremely critical condition.
Collision injures motorcyclist, pedestrian
A 32-year-old female motorcyclist struck a 66-year-old male pedestrian in Hauula Tuesday, seriously injuring him.
The motorcyclist was traveling about 30 mph to 35 mph toward Kahuku when she struck the man at 6:15 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway at Kukuna Road.
Emergency Medical Services paramedics said the woman was driving behind her boyfriend when he swerved to avoid the pedestrian. The woman was too close at that point and unable to avoid the man, the agency said by email. The pedestrian was in serious condition, the woman in stable condition; both were taken to a hospital, the email said.
Suspect arrested, charged with threatening
A 35-year-old Maili man who allegedly threatened his 24-year-old girlfriend with a shotgun on Dec. 3 was charged Wednesday. Ryan K. Patricio was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening after he turned himself in Wednesday morning at the Kapolei police station and was arrested.
Police reported that the woman and Patricio, who have a child together, were in a verbal argument at a Waianae Coast home when he allegedly brandished a shotgun and threatened to kill her and anyone else who got in his way.
Patricio’s bail was set at $25,000.

Woman dies in Honokaa fire
Hawaii County fire investigators were investigating the cause of a $300,000 fire that took the life of a woman Tuesday night in Honokaa.
When firefighters responded to the 8:20 p.m. alarm Tuesday on Kahana Drive near Old Mamalahoa Highway, they found the single-story structure engulfed in flames.
They brought the fire under control at 10:23 p.m. and declared it extinguished at 3:36 a.m.
Neighbors reported that a person was missing and the woman’s body was found after the fire was brought under control.
Police did not disclose the woman’s name and ordered an autopsy. Police ask that anyone with information on this case to contact Detective Joel Field at 961-2381 or jfield@co.hawaii.hi.us.
