Inouye advocated for Hanabusa to take his place in U.S. Senate

Dennis oda / 2011 U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye and Congresswoman Colleen Hana­busa had grown close in the last few years, and Ino­uye expressed the wish that she be appointed to succeed him in the Senate. The two met at a graduation ceremony last year for the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Apprentice Program. Gov. Neil Abercrombie will choose Ino­uye's replacement from a list of three people recommended by the Demo­cratic Party of Hawaii.
