Fireworks are suspected in man’s critical injuries
A 21-year-old man was in critical condition after an apparent fireworks-related accident in Waipahu on Saturday.
Paramedics were called to a residential address around 5:30 p.m. The victim was transported to a local trauma center.
Unconscious visitor found in Hilton Lagoon
A stand-up paddler brought to shore a 68-year-old male visitor who was found unconscious Friday in the Hilton Lagoon.
Emergency Services spokeswoman Shayne Enright said the stand-up paddler spotted the man floating face down in the water about 11:12 a.m.
Ocean Safety lifeguards found a pulse and began rescue breathing, Enright said.
Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the man in serious condition to a hospital. The man had been snorkeling.
City, federal firefighters battle 50-acre blaze
Honolulu Fire Department personnel worked Saturday with federal firefighters to extinguish a brush fire that blackened about 50 acres in Ewa Beach.
The fire was spread over an area bordered by North Road, Fort Weaver Road and Iroquois Point, according to HFD spokesman Capt. Robert Main. No injuries have been reported and no structures were threatened.
Woman, 51, is caught using stolen passport
A 51-year-old Moanalua woman could face a half-dozen criminal charges after she allegedly attempted to cash a check using a stolen passport.
The woman attempted to cash the check at a University Avenue area business on Friday using a passport belonging to a 32-year-old woman.
Upon arrest, the suspect was allegedly found to be in possession of a glass pipe and a bag containing what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine residue.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery, second-degree attempted theft, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, third-degree identity theft and two counts of drug possession.
