After 15 years, Carlos Santana is returning to Hawaii for a pair of concerts on Oahu and Maui.
The dates are part of the musician’s "Sentient Tour," which will continue in New Zealand and Australia after the Hawaii dates.
Santana has been a rock star, admired for his singular guitar tone, since the 1960s, including an appearance with his band, Santana, at Woodstock in 1969.
He owns 10 Grammy Awards — nine in association with his 1999 album "Supernatural" — and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

The show is presented by Marek Lieberberg in association with Ron Gibson Entertainment and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Gibson said Santana, who has a home on Maui, plays "guitar that speaks to the planet." He also lauded the musician for his charitable work with his youth-directed Milagro ("Miracle") Foundation.
"Santana performed last in Hawaii in the late ’90s; he was a superstar then. Shortly after that he recorded the ‘Supernatural’ album, which blasted him into legendary, megastar status — it broke all the records," Gibson said.
"He’s returning to Hawaii for the first time since then. We think it’s going to be such a treat for Hawaii audiences.
"It only takes one note to know that that’s Santana, and then the memories come flooding out."
Santana has captivated listeners across several generations. His first Top 10 hit, "Evil Ways," remained on the charts more than two years after its release in 1969. In 2002 his collaboration with Michelle Branch on "The Game of Love" (originally recorded with Tina Turner) rose to No. 5 on the Billboard singles chart. (The official YouTube video has been viewed more than 4.75 million times.)
The promoters laud him for "artistry that transcends musical genres and generational, cultural and geographical boundaries."
His other hits include "Oye Como Va," "Black Magic Woman" and "No One to Depend On" and the blockbuster "Smooth" featuring Rob Thomas.
In 1998 the group Santana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In 2010 he released the Billboard Top 10 album "Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time." In 2012, Santana released the largely instrumental "Shape Shifter" on new label Starfaith Records.
