Toyota invites youths to create dream car
Young artists can rev up their imaginations in Toyota Hawaii’s annual Dream Car Contest.
Hand-drawn entries will be judged in three age groups: under 10, ages 10 to 12, and ages 13 to 15. Winners in each group will receive an iPad Mini; two other finalists from each group will be awarded $150. All nine will advance to the World Contest, where they will have a chance to win a trip to Japan for an awards ceremony in August with Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda.
Last year, a drawing of a sleek, futuristic car, pictured, by 11-year-old Emily Stone of Kaneohe was chosen as one of the 30 world finalists, and the only one from the United States.
Feb. 25 is the deadline for entries. Voting in the People’s Choice Competition is already under way on the Toyota Hawaii Facebook page. The artwork with the most votes in each category will automatically be considered for final judging.
