Gas leak prompts evacuation at UH-Manoa
A broken gas line at the Information Technology Center construction site on the University of Hawaii-Manoa campus prompted an evacuation of the site and adjacent buildings Monday evening.
The evacuation included the Physical Science Building, Bilger Auditorium, the Keller buildings and McCarthy Mall, the university said in a news release
The Honolulu Fire Department’s hazardous materials team responded to the scene.
The university reported the leak shortly after 8:30 p.m.
No further details were available.
Man with gun robs Central Pacific Bank
Police are looking for a man who robbed the Central Pacific Bank on Dillingham Boulevard on Monday afternoon.
The man approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded money, police said.
The suspect is described as between 40 and 50 years old, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds and wearing a light green jacket with a white design on the hood, a beige baseball cap and sunglasses.
