Cause of death of fetus is deferred by medical examiner

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday deferred the determination of cause of death of a fetus found in an Aiea park Thursday morning, pending further examination and investigation.

Police said the fetus was in a box found by a man collecting recyclable materials at Napua­nani Park at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The man discovered the fetus when he opened the box at home.

Police said there were no signs of foul play.

Anyone with information may call police by either dialing 911 or calling the Criminal Investigation Division at 723-3609 or 723-3577 after hours.
