Wahine water polo team wins opener
Nine different players scored, with seven scoring two goals, as the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine water polo team trounced Sonoma State, 16-3, Thursday in UH’s season opener in Rohnert Park, Calif.
Freshman Paula Chillida Esforzado scored 26 seconds into the match — her first of two goals — only to see the Seawolves tie it. UH then scored eight unanswered goals.
UH hosts Grand Slam celebration Feb. 10
Tables are still available for the 11th annual UH baseball Grand Slam Celebration Feb. 10 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and gives fans the opportunity to meet both the players and coaches.
There will be a live and silent auction and the group Imua will provide musical entertainment.
Individual seats are $100 or a table of 10 can be purchased for $1,000. Food will be provided by places such as Sansei Seafood, Side Street Inn, Big City Diner, Hukilau/Pagoda, Roy’s and Kona Brewing Co.
