Inquiry proceeds on fetus found in box
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has deferred the determination of cause of death of a fetus found in an Aiea park Thursday morning, pending further examination and investigation.
Police said the fetus was in a box found by a man collecting recyclable materials at Napuanani Park at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The man discovered the fetus when he opened the box at home.
Police said there were no signs of foul play.

Man dies after jumping from moving car
A 33-year-old Ewa man jumped out of a moving car Thursday night on the H-1 freeway near the Waipahu offramp and was run over and killed by a passing car.
Police are looking for the driver of the car that hit the man, who did not stop following the 9:45 p.m. accident. The incident occurred as the car the man jumped out of was traveling west on the H-1 freeway. The victim died at the scene.
This was the ninth traffic death of the year on Oahu, compared with four at the same time last year.
Police ID motorcyclist killed in crash
Hawaii County police have identified the motorcyclist who died Monday after his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 11, south of mile marker 109 in South Kona, as Dennis B. Huber, 45, of Captain Cook.
Fire Department rescue personnel took the motorcyclist to Kona Community Hospital, where he died at 7:56 p.m. He was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 35-year-old woman from Captain Cook, and her 4-year-old son were not injured in the collision.
Police said speed and alcohol were factors in this crash.

Search resumes on Big Island for missing diver
Hawaii County Fire Department and Coast Guard personnel resumed the search Friday morning for a man who had gone diving Wednesday at a location called “2 step” near Puuhonua O Honaunau National Park in Captain Cook.
A friend became concerned when Jeremiah Nathan, 42, of Kealakekua, missed his flight to the mainland Thursday morning. Nathan’s truck, wallet and cell phone were found at the entrance to the park.
An aerial and shoreline search for him began at 8:24 p.m. Thursday and was suspended at midnight.
Nathan had dive gear and was wearing a blue-green camouflage full-body wet suit, the Coast Guard said.
