Cracked window forces helicopter to land
No one was hurt after a helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing Saturday at Magic Island.
Hawaii News Now reported that according to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Robinson R-44 was forced down shortly before 4 p.m. because of a crack in the left door window. It’s unclear what caused the damage.
Comment period on fee extended
The Kauai Department of Water has extended to March 8 the deadline for public comment on its water system development fee.
The fee covers the cost of adding new capacity such as a new development or home expansion, and is applied to building permit and subdivision applications.

Highway lane to be closed
A Kauai Department of Water contractor will begin replacing a water main segment Monday in Waipouli.
The northbound lane of Kuhio Highway will be closed, and traffic will be diverted onto the utility lane of the roadway. The work will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Kuhio Highway from Keaka Road to Ulu Street.
