Waipahu man held in assault on woman
Police arrested a 36-year-old Waipahu man Sunday in connection with an assault Jan. 29.
According to police, the suspect violated a protective order and assaulted a 45-year-old woman, causing her "substantial bodily harm."
The man turned himself in at the Pearl City police substation and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and a protective order violation.
Boy taken to hospital after nearly drowning
Emergency medical personnel took a 5-year-old boy to a hospital in serious condition Sunday after he nearly drowned at the Ko Olina Resort.
The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. at the resort’s Lagoon 2. Ko Olina has four man-made swimming lagoons.
Bicyclist injured in collision with car
A bicyclist was taken to a hospital in serious condition Sunday after a collision with a car in Makiki, Emergency Medical Services said.
The accident happened at the intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and South Beretania Street at about 3 p.m.
Suspect held in robbery of Haleiwa store
A man robbed a Haleiwa shop Saturday afternoon and injured someone who tried to intervene, police said.
Police said the man took an item from a display rack without paying at about 12:20 p.m. and ran off with the object. Police said the robber injured a 25-year-old man who tried to stop him.
Police found the suspect at 2:05 p.m. and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Man, 20, arrested after Moiliili burglary
Police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday on suspicion of entering a Moiliili house Saturday night and taking some items, police said.
The burglary happened at about 7 p.m. Police arrested the suspect for investigation of first-degree burglary.
