Man is critical after catamaran capsizes
A 57-year-old man nearly drowned Saturday afternoon after a catamaran overturned in waters off Kualoa Ranch.
The man was transported in critical condition to an area hospital by Emergency Medical Services.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m.
Alleged attack nets charges of damage
A 23-year-old Salt Lake man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for crashing a vehicle into a golf cart in which his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend was sitting has been charged instead with two counts of criminal property damage.
According to police, Anson Oliveros accelerated his vehicle toward the golf cart but the 24-year-old victim was able to jump out before the vehicle struck the cart. Neither party was injured.
The victim is the father of the suspect’s girlfriend’s two children.
Oliveros was charged with first- and second-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $100,000.
Kalihi man accused of woman’s assault
Police have charged a 47-year-old Kalihi man in connection with an alleged sexual assault on Jan. 31.
According to police, Vernon Aquino sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman.
Aquino was arrested on Thursday and charged Saturday with first-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $400,000.
