Parnaby named Big West pitcher of week
Hawaii’s Kaia Parnaby was named the Big West Conference softball pitcher of the week for the second time this season for her performances in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.
Parnaby (11-2, 1.28) earned five complete-game wins, including two on Sunday, and posted a 0.80 ERA for the week. She had 40 strikeouts and seven walks in 35 innings and was named the tournament’s most valuable pitcher.
Wahine fifth in preseason sand poll
The Hawaii women’s sand volleyball team was ranked fifth in the AVCA preseason poll released Monday. Defending champion Pepperdine tops the poll.
The Rainbow Wahine, led by All-American Jane Croson, open the season with a dual match against No. 8 Florida International on March 15 at Queen’s Beach in Waikiki.
