Fujikawa in a tie for 11th at eGolf stop
Hawaii’s Tadd Fujikawa opened with a 1-over-par 72 on Wednesday and was tied for 11th when play was suspended due to darkness at the eGolf Tour’s Irish Creek Classic in Kannapolis, N.C. There were 35 players still on the course.
The leader is Ryan Nelson at 64. Golfers played in brisk winds and temperatures that never reached 40. Only six of the 104 who finished broke par.
Spiker is Big West tennis athlete of week
Hawaii’s Jared Spiker was named the Big West tennis athlete of the week.
He won in both singles and doubles against Xavier last week.
He is currently 4-5 in singles and 3-5 in doubles.
HPU moves up to No. 7 in West poll
Hawaii Pacific moved up one spot to No. 7 in the NCAA Division II West Region women’s basketball rankings.
The top eight teams in the nation’s eight regions advance to the NCAA D-II playoffs.
The Sea Warriors (18-6) went 2-0 last week, with wins over Dixie State and Chaminade. They’re preparing for the Pacific West Conference tournament, and will play the winner of the Dixie State/Hawaii Hilo game on Friday in Azusa, Calif.
