Woman hurt in shooting along highway
Police are investigating the shooting of a 45-year-old woman who was wounded in the back of her head Thursday while walking on Farrington Highway in Maili.
Police had no suspects and had not made any arrests.
Emergency Medical Services reported that the woman was in serious condition when she went to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
Paramedics then took her to a trauma center. Police said she was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and that her condition was good.
The shooting occurred at 12:25 p.m. Thursday near St. John’s Road, police said.
Bulldozer hit Marine during training
A Kaneohe Bay Marine who died Monday during training in California was struck by a bulldozer, a California-based news website reported.
Pfc. Casey J. Holmes, 20, of Chico, Calif., died during an Integrated Training Exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
"Pfc. Holmes was struck by a bulldozer," Marine Capt. Nicholas C. Mannweiler said, according to the Palm Desert Patch. Mannweiler is based at the combat center.
The Marine Corps said the incident being investigated.
Holmes enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 2012 and joined the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in October.
Woman suspected in robbery surrenders
A Waianae woman wanted for stealing merchandise from a Kapolei store last year turned herself in to police Tuesday.
The woman, 51, was released pending further investigation of the second-degree robbery charges.
The incident occurred Aug. 18 when, police said, she hid merchandise in her handbag and left the store without paying for it. Confronted by a store official, she pushed the 31-year-old man and fled.

Man arrested in bank robbery
A 33-year-old homeless man from Pennsylvania was arrested on Maui in connection with a robbery Thursday of the Wailea branch of First Hawaiian Bank.
A man approached a bank teller at about 9 a.m. with a note demanding that money be placed in a paper bag, police said. No weapon was seen. The man left with an undisclosed amount of money on a silver moped heading west on Wailea Iki Drive.
At about 10:30 a.m., Kihei patrol officers were making checks in the Wailea-Makena area and found a silver moped off Old Makena Road near the Polo Beach Club matching the description of the one used in the robbery, police said.
Officers found a man matching the description of the robber. The man told police the moped belongs to him. Police sent a digital photo of the suspect to the bank, and staffers identified him as the robber.
Police arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
