Law to leave UHH men’s basketball post
Hawaii Hilo men’s basketball coach Jeff Law will leave the Vulcans after 15 seasons for the same job at Western New Mexico.
"Every assistant coach looks for that break, and I’m very grateful the University and the Hilo community gave me mine," said Law, who was an assistant with the University of Hawaii under Riley Wallace. "I’ve learned much over the past 15 years about myself, coaching and people, but it’s time that I move on.
"Hilo holds a special place for anyone who has been here and it will with me."
The longest-tenured coach in UHH basketball history, Law finishes his Vulcans career with a 208-188 (.525) record and is the Vulcans’ second all-time winningest coach. He is just one of two coaches to make the 200-victory plateau, joining Jimmy Yagi (218 wins).
The Vulcans made their first NCAA Division II regional in 2002-03. Two years later, UHH won the Pacific West Conference title and was No. 8 in the national coaches poll.
